The Pentecost Challenge 2021

Uxbridge Parish
About
We are fundraising to support Friends of the Holy Land's Pentecost Challenge 2021, by running/walking/cycling/(swimming!!) in the Uxbridge UK local area a distance equal to the 84 mile pilgrimage between Bethlehem and Nazareth.
At the moment we have one active participant and two donors. We need plenty of each! Email [email protected] if you yourself want to do some running etc as part of the Uxbridge Parish team, or hit the Donation button to make a donation online. You may be able to donate by internet banking - to be confirmed.
We hope to raise £1000 through your support, but let's think of that amount as just the bottom rung, as the need is great.
Pre-pandemic Friends of the Holy Land used to run a stall once a year in our parish of Our Lady of Lourdes and St Michael in Uxbridge, raising funds for their schooling for Christian children The pandemic has put hundreds of children at risk of dropping out of their faith schools.
A huge number of Christian families across the Holy Land who relied on tourism have been plunged into unemployment and poverty during the last year, with no government support. If their children are to continue attending their Christian schools, they need help to pay the (small) school fees.
For children and young people growing up in difficult places to live, like East Jerusalem, the West Bank or Gaza, and for those with disabilities, a good school is absolutely vital for their wellbeing now and their future prospects.
Most of what we raise will help to keep vulnerable children at the schools they love, and we'll also be supporting the charity's wider pandemic response across the region.
